ARTICLE AND FEATURE WRITING

We combine two of the things I love most in life — writing and learning — and make it my living is something I'm extremely grateful for. What's more, I'm also able to bring my own life experience into my work How many can honestly say the same?

While we've previously been happy to accept commissions on any subject, we have now started specialising and prefer to accept projects that are based around either of those subjects or one that holds a particular interest for me.

That said, we are still happy to take on the majority of projects offered but there are some cases where the subject is not only outside of my fields of interest, it's also a subject that I don't feel would hold my interest enough for me to do justice to it. When that happens I'd much rather pass on the work than write a piece that I haven't given 100% other articles or news stories to complete.

For you, the client, this means that whenever we accept your commission you can be certain that the copy you receive will be written with a professional level of knowledgable enthusiasm, and that's something that your readers will notice and appreciate.

Our preferred subjects are:

  • Manufacturing
  • Aviation
  • Social Media
  • SEO and Marketing Online

However there are grey areas that your subject may fall into as well as areas within each subject that I have no interesting in and some which we categorically refuse to write about. Ultimately, whether or not I can accept a commission will depend as much on my own ethical views as my interest in the subject.

Most of my articles have a word count of between 400 - 1000 words and although articles can be written at any length and a my rate card can be found here, the subject matter itself will often dictate the length and the price of the finished work. After all, it's far more challenging to write 3,000 words about "toothbrushes" than about "The Royal Family", and still keep the reader's attention.

Some projects come to me with all the relevant research finished. In those cases, my job is to use the information I'm given and concoct both compelling and entertaining article that will grab the reader and hold his or her attention. Other projects consist of a subject, a word count and instructions to find the relevant background information myself.

Note to Web Masters: Research has shown that articles of around 400-500 words are most likely to be enjoyed by visitors to websites. Couple this with my SEO writing skills and my articles should bring you more search engine traffic.
